Have you given away your Power, Authority, Seniority, Truth, Freedom or whatever you want to call it? Be honest with yourself. Take a breath and really think about it. The answer is probably a resounding YES! Undoubtably, we have all given our power away to someone or something at some point in our lives. As "householders" living in a society it seems to be expected of us. We follow the rules, do what's expected, and try our best to conform or at least fit in. After all, we are all Divine Beings having a Physical experience and doing the best we can. Yes, you are a Divine Being! Somewhere along the way we lost sight of that fact. That is why we have so freely given our Power away. We just forgot! It's that simple.
Part of the reason we forget is because the Physical can be hard and very challenging. We get bogged down and overwhelmed with the chores, duties, work, commitments, and contracts that come along with the human experience. In Yogic philosophy, we are taught that "Pain is inevitable; Suffering is optional." In life we will all be challenged and experience hardships, but we do not have to suffer. If you feel as though you are "suffering" in your current situation, you can choose to step back into your Power and Authority. You can start speaking your truth and gain your seniority back again. Don't be hard on yourself. You are doing the best you can and that's enough! It happens to us all. What's important is that you do find your way back to your Authentic Self. For this, we take the bold journey inward. It is there we realize that everything we need is already inside of us! Everything!
Mindfulness practices are extremely beneficial in calming the mind and helping us step into our truth. You can always bring yourself back to a peaceful state with a single mindfulness tool, such as the breath. The breath is free, neutral, and readily available. Whenever you are experiencing stress or overwhelm, you can always center yourself with breathwork. When we calm the mind we have more clarity and peace. With a meditation or mindfulness practice we slowly begin to undo the doing. When situations arise, we are better equipped at handling them in a neutral and nonreactive manner. We welcome the material that comes up and we are able to practice discernment.
We begin to step back into our Higher Self and our Divinity. We have taken back our Power!
Mindfulness practices such as breathwork, meditation, and Yoga Nidra (the yoga of sleep) are easy self-care tools that you can gently add into your daily routines. Not gonna lie, it's work! Especially when things have been accumulating for years!!! If you are willing to do the work, I promise you that the results are worth it. You are worth it! I invite you to take some time out of your day and focus on the breath. Sit in stillness. Listen to soft music. Practice a gentle form of movement. Be with yourself and what comes up. In that moment you are on your way. "The longest journey begins with a single step." -Patanjali
I leave you with an insightful meditation practice called Metta, a wish or blessing.
